Welcome to the Alaska Workers' Compensation Board
EDI POC Implementation Information Page

Alaska

Effective January 1, 2004, the State of Alaska, Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Workers’ Compensation Division (WCD) will accept Proof of Coverage (POC) information exclusively in the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) POC format, Release 2.  A complete copy of the IAIABC EDI POC implementation guide can be reviewed at the IAIABC website, http://www.iaiabc.org/EDI/implementation_guide_index.htm

Currently insurers and their data providers are required to submit POC information directly to the Division of Workers’ Compensation to satisfy the requirements of Alaska Statute 23.30.085 and 8 AAC 45.085.  POC filings are made in hard copy on prescribed form 07-6119.  At its October 1, 2003 meeting, the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board approved revision of form 07-6119, stipulating that the required data be transmitted electronically.  Data element requirements are subject to change by the IAIABC, and will be set out in future bulletins as necessary.

Insurers providing workers’ compensation insurance coverage in Alaska may utilize ISO ClaimPort Proof of Coverage (POC) Services, as an approved Alaska third party vendor, for your POC electronic reporting.
